Position Summary
The ASL Paraprofessional supports students enrolled in Presentation High Schools online American Sign Language (ASL) program by fostering a positive engaging and well-managed classroom environment. Working in collaboration with the online instructor and the Modern Language Department Chair the facilitator monitors student engagement provides academic encouragement supports communication and helps ensure students are successful in the online learning environment. The facilitator is a member of the Modern Language Department and participates in department meetings and other departmental initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise students during their online ASL classes and maintain a productive learning environment.
- Foster positive relationships with students and build a supportive classroom community.
- Monitor student engagement participation and progress encouraging students to remain on task and seek assistance when needed.
- Serve as the primary on-campus liaison between students parents counselors the online instructor and the Modern Language Department Chair by facilitating timely communication regarding student progress concerns support needs and overall success in the online ASL program.
- Promptly address student questions and communicate classroom observations student concerns and progress to the online instructor and Modern Language Department Chair to support student success.
- Collaborate with the online instructor and the Modern Language Department Chair to ensure students receive consistent academic support and appropriate interventions when needed.
- Attend Modern Language Department meetings and actively participate as a member of the department.
- Maintain a safe orderly and respectful classroom environment including supervising students during emergencies.
- Model the mission values and Catholic identity of Presentation High School in all interactions with students.
- Demonstrate professionalism and maintain positive working relationships with students parents faculty and staff.
- Be available to provide academic organizational and social-emotional support to students throughout the school year.
Education & Experience
- 1 -2 years of Paraprofessional experience and/or classroom management.
- Some knowledge of ASL is preferred.
- B.A. degree preferred but not required.

- Willingness to participate in occasional co-curricular activities and other school events as requested.

The ASL Student Success Facilitator must be able to
- Lift and/or carry a moderate weight of 10 pounds
