Job Summary
This position will be based out of our Tech Center in our Middle/High School building. This position is open to both full and part-time applicants. While the position will be primarily secondary its possible that some elementary instruction could be part of a schedule depending upon scheduling needs expertise and student interest.
The Art Teacher is responsible for providing engaging student-centered instruction in visual arts courses including Introduction to Art 2-D Art and 3-D Art. The teacher will foster creativity artistic expression and critical thinking while helping students develop technical skills across a variety of artistic media and techniques. The ideal candidate will create a positive classroom culture that encourages exploration collaboration and appreciation of the visual arts.
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in:
- Introduction to Art
- 2-D Art courses
- 3-D Art courses
- Teach a variety of artistic techniques media and processes including drawing painting sculpture ceramics mixed media and design.
- Develop lessons that encourage creativity problem-solving and artistic growth for students with diverse abilities and interests.
- Assess student learning and provide timely constructive feedback on artistic progress and performance.
- Maintain a safe organized and engaging classroom and studio environment.
- Properly manage art supplies equipment and materials within established budgets and procedures.
- Display student artwork throughout the school and community when appropriate.
- Incorporate art history cultural awareness and contemporary artistic practices into instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues administrators and parents to support student success.
- Participate in faculty meetings professional development and school activities as required.
- Maintain accurate student records grades and attendance.
- Support and uphold district policies procedures and educational goals.
- Bachelors degree in Art Education Fine Arts or related field required.
- Valid state teaching license/certification with appropriate endorsement in Art preferred or required based on state regulations or a path to obtain state licensure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of both 2-D and 3-D art techniques and instructional practices.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students staff and families
- Experience with ceramics sculpture digital art or mixed media instruction.
- Flexibility to teach a variety of grade levels and course offerings.
- Ability to stand walk bend and move throughout the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and transport art supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate art equipment and tools.
