The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation provides comprehensive patient-centered care for children with neurological musculoskeletal and developmental collaboration with physiatrists therapists orthotists and neurosurgeons the PNP evaluates function manages spasticity and chronic pain and supports improved mobility independence and quality of life.

Position Summary

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation delivers comprehensive patient-centered care for children with neurological musculoskeletal and developmental disabilities. Working alongside physiatrists therapists orthotists and neurosurgeons the PNP assesses function manages spasticity and chronic pain and optimizes mobility and independenceResponsibilities Direct Patient CareConduct detailed neuro-musculoskeletal and functional assessments including gait analysis and standardized outcome measuresDiagnose and manage conditions such as cerebral palsy spina bifida and neuromuscular disordersPrescribe and oversee pharmacologic spasticity interventions (oral antispasmodicsIntrathecal Baclofen Pump ManagementProgram and adjust baclofen pump settings using an external programmerCoordinate and perform pump refills under aseptic technique monitor infusion logs and manage device alarmsIdentify and address complications (infection catheter issues pump malfunction) in collaboration with neurosurgeryRehabilitation Program Coordination & Quality ImprovementDevelop individualized rehabilitation plans incorporating PT OT SLP orthotics and adaptive equipmentEngage in meaningful QI projectsMultidisciplinary Team & LeadershipParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds with therapists orthotists case managers and social workersPrecept and mentor NP/PA students and nursing staff on PM&R best practicesContribute to development and revision of clinical pathways order sets and educational materialsCitizenshipEmbody organizational values of kindness integrity stewardship collaboration and respectAdhere to hospital policies scope-of-practice regulations and safety standardsEngage in departmental meetings community outreach and ongoing professional developmentRequirements Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specializationCurrent unrestricted Washington State APRN license; PNP-BC or CPNP-PC/AC certificationBasic Life Support (BLS) requiredProven competence in intrathecal baclofen pump programming and refill procedures preferred; training available for strong candidatesExperience or clinical rotation in pediatric PM&R spasticity management or neurology preferred; new graduates with relevant exposure will be consideredProficiency with Epic preferredExcellent diagnostic reasoning interprofessional communication and patient/family education skillsCommitment to evidence-based practice quality improvement and enhancing pediatric functional outcomes

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package including competitive salary medical dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $166000.00 - $178000.00 USD. However pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants including but not limited to: skill set level of experience and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicants years of experience align.
