Summary:

The Area Manager Fabrication meets or exceeds all metrics (safety quality delivery and cost) in manufacturing hydroelectric components within the process area. Floor time exceeding 50% providing management and coaching to drive results.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates planning with Production Control Manufacturing Engineering and downstream functions by aligning load capacity and competency at a strategic level to achieve plant and department metrics (safety quality on-time delivery and budget).
• Ensures proactive readiness (materials manpower tooling and work instructions) so work can start immediately upon component arrival.
• Provides direction and supports supervisors while building department competencies.
• Accountable for the daily execution of the production system within area of responsibility.
• Balance strategic and tactical leadership at respective 70/30 split.
• Assures meeting or exceeding business metrics.
• Visible leadership and personal communication.
• Process Area continuous improvement and problem-solving leader.
• Aligns with other Area Managers and factory leaders around expectations and policy adherence.
• Holds people accountable to processes policies systems and results.
• Performance management and employee development.
• Drives innovation in department to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelors degree in engineering (or related field) and/or 8 years relative experience.
• Work experience: 3 years in manufacturing management.
• Physical Requirements:

• • The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop or crouch.
  • The vision requirements: close vision distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception and adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs. climb ladders and perform other tasks related to an industrial environment.
• Small amount of travel may be required.
