Job Summary
Area 31 Career Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced HVAC Instructor to join our Career and Technical Education team. This full-time position involves teaching dual credit courses through Ivy Tech Community College including Heating Fundamentals Refrigeration I and Duct Fabrication & Installation to high school students preparing for careers in the heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
In addition to dual-credit instruction the instructor will prepare students to earn their EPA Section 608 Technician Certification equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for entry into the HVAC workforce or for continued postsecondary education.

- Teach Ivy Tech dual credit courses:
- HVAC 101 Heating Fundamentals
- HVAC 103 Refrigeration I
- HVAC 107 Duct Fabrication & Installation
- Prepare students for the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification examination.
- Develop engaging relevant lessons aligned with Ivy Tech curriculum Indiana Career and Technical Education standards and industry expectations.
- Provide hands-on laboratory instruction that emphasizes safe work practices proper tool use equipment operation troubleshooting and installation techniques.
- Create a classroom and laboratory environment that promotes learning technical skill development professionalism and career readiness.
- Assess student performance and provide meaningful feedback to support academic and technical growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues business and industry partners and Ivy Tech Community College to strengthen Area 31s Skilled Trades programs.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism safety and ethical conduct within the HVAC industry.
- Support students in preparing for postsecondary education apprenticeships and employment in the HVAC field.
- A minimum of fiveyears of directly related work experience in the HVAC industry.
- Possess the knowledge and experience necessary to teach HVAC systems refrigeration heating fundamentals and duct fabrication.
- Hold or be eligible to obtain the credentials necessary to teach Ivy Tech dual credit HVAC courses.
- Possess or be eligible to obtain EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.
- Willingness and eligibility to complete the Indiana Workplace Specialist License during the first year of employment (support provided).
- Prior experience teaching training mentoring apprentices or supervising employees.
- Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with residential and commercial HVAC systems.
- A passion for career and technical education and helping students develop the technical and employability skills necessary for success in the skilled trades.
