Area 31 Career Pathway Specialist CTE School Counselor

The Career Pathway Specialist / CTE School Counselor provides comprehensive academic career and postsecondary advising to students enrolled in Area 31 Career Center programs including a focus on students participating in Early College Associate Degree pathways. This position supports student success by coordinating academic planning dual credit enrollment career exploration leadership development and student interventions while collaborating with instructors partner schools postsecondary institutions families and business and industry partners.

• Advise students enrolled in four Early College Associate Degree pathways to ensure successful completion of secondary and postsecondary requirements.
• Develop and monitor individualized academic plans that align with students career goals and degree pathways.
• Assist students with course selection scheduling and pathway planning in collaboration with sending schools and postsecondary partners.
• Monitor student progress toward graduation credential attainment and associate degree completion.
• Review transcripts and graduation requirements to ensure students remain on track for program completion.

• Coordinate enrollment for all Vincennes University dual credit courses offered through Area 31 Career Center.
• Serve as the primary liaison between Area 31 Career Center and Vincennes University regarding student enrollment registration and academic records.
• Communicate dual credit policies deadlines and expectations to students families instructors and partner schools.
• Maintain accurate records of student enrollment and dual credit eligibility.

• Monitor student grades attendance and academic performance throughout the school year.
• Identify students in need of academic or behavioral interventions and coordinate appropriate support services.
• Meet regularly with students experiencing academic challenges and develop improvement plans.
• Communicate with families instructors and sending schools regarding student progress and concerns.

• Provide career counseling and assist students in exploring career pathways aligned with their interests skills and workforce needs.
• Guide students through postsecondary planning including college admissions apprenticeships military options and employment opportunities.
• Assist students in developing employability skills resumes interview techniques and professional portfolios.
• Promote attainment of industry-recognized credentials and work-based learning opportunities.

• Coordinate leadership development opportunities through the Area 31 Ambassador program.
• Support students in developing communication teamwork professionalism and workplace readiness skills.

• Plan and coordinate student events related to Early College dual credit career exploration college readiness and student recognition.
• Assist with orientation programs information nights signing ceremonies awards programs and recruitment events.
• Coordinate activities that strengthen partnerships with Vincennes University business and industry and partner school districts.

• Provide individual and small-group counseling related to academic career and personal/social development.
• Collaborate with administrators teachers families and community agencies to support student success.
• Maintain confidential student records in accordance with FERPA and school policies.
• Participate in student support teams case conferences and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Assist with crisis response and student support as needed.
• Interpret assessment data and utilize student performance information to guide interventions and academic planning.
• Support implementation of the schools comprehensive counseling program and continuous school improvement initiatives.
• Participate in professional development activities to remain current with school counseling practices dual credit policies and career and technical education initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

• Valid Indiana School Counselor License.
• Knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) dual credit programs and Indiana graduation pathways preferred.
• Experience working with secondary students in academic advising college and career readiness or student services preferred.
• Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships with students families school personnel higher education partners and business and industry representatives.
