Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communitythrough youth development healthy living and social responsibility. Develops organizes and implementshigh quality member and community-focused YMCA aquatic FUNCTIONS: Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCAobjectives and goals. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the communityin accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationshipswith community organizations. Recruits hires trains develops schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviewsand evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensuresrecords of staff certifications are current and complete. Conducts regular/ frequent sanitation of all equipment (rescue and member used) and assigned areasas outlined by YMCA Leadership. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state local and federal and YMCA health and safetyregulations. Ensures aquatic safety best practices are in place throughout the branch and that a culture of aquaticsafety is developed by conducting safety drills that involves multiple departments and assures teamadhesiveness in an emergency. This also ensures that all staff members are aware of protocols whenresponding to an emergency in the facility. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pool(s). Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Conducts/Assures lifeguarding swim instruction First Aid and CPR trainings are delivered. Creates and schedules YMCA aquatics programs (such as swim lessons water fitness classes andswim team practices and meets). Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Develops and monitors safety swim team and program budgets to meet fiscal objectives. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds toall member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Assists with Program Committee meetings Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participationin program. Serve as a Cause Driven Leader on Duty (CDLOD). Performs other duties as :Education Associates Degree lieu of Associates Degree High School diploma GED or equivalent certificate of competency and2-3 years of the related work : Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required Three (3) years supervisor and/or leadership experience preferred ex. head Lifeguard aquaticscoordinator or supervisorCertification(s) and Requirements: Certified Pool Operator required. Preferred before hire or must be obtained within 90 days ofemployment. Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification required Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hireTechnical Skills and Knowledge: Within 30 days of hire completion of YMCA program-specific and Operational trainings: BloodBorne Pathogen Ten Commandments of Effective Lifeguarding Child Abuse Prevention andRecognition Incident Reporting Bullying Active Shooter Allergies Driver Safety HarassmentProper Lifting New Employee Orientation and Program and Financial Operation Trainings Completion of YMCA aquatics training and trainer certifications. Demonstrate commitment to the mission cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics. Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds abilities opinions andperceptions Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse andneglect.
