Job Summary

Job Summary: The Journeyman Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting repairing installing and maintaining production equipment facility systems and related machinery in a glass manufacturing environment. This position supports safe reliable and efficient plant operations by performing preventive maintenance responding to equipment breakdowns and working closely with production engineering and maintenance teams.

MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting repair and preventive maintenance on glass manufacturing equipment including conveyors batch handling systems furnaces lehrs forming equipment inspection systems packaging equipment motors pumps gearboxes bearings and related plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical electrical pneumatic hydraulic and basic control system issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints schematics equipment manuals wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Perform equipment installations alignments adjustments calibrations rebuilds and changeovers as required.
  • Use hand tools power tools precision measuring instruments welding/cutting equipment and diagnostic tools safely and effectively.
  • Complete work orders preventive maintenance documentation equipment history records and parts usage records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company safety policies lockout/tagout procedures confined space requirements hot work procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability quality and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas production areas and shop spaces.
  • Work collaboratively with production operators supervisors engineers contractors and other maintenance personnel.
  • Support emergency repairs and plant shutdown work as needed.
