Description of Work

This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.

We are recruiting for 2 positions within this posting.

The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking an Applications Systems Specialist I to serve on our Data Engineering Team within our Data Analytics this role you would have the opportunity to work with Databricks solution architecture and engineering lead technical projects review code and help develop data governance for the agency.

As part of our team you will get to:
Translate business and audit requirements into scalable technical designs data models processing workflows and platform configurations
Develop advanced Python PySpark and Spark SQL solutions for data ingestion transformation enrichment reconciliation and delivery
Define and execute testing strategies for pipelines transformations workflows integrations and governed data products
Mentor engineers working with Databricks Python PySpark SQL data pipelines testing deployment and governance
Design and implement Databricks governance structures using Unity Catalog and related platform capabilities.
Define or support data ownership stewardship classification access certification retention and lifecycle requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $87617 - $131426

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of deployment approaches such as Databricks Asset Bundles infrastructure as code and configuration as code

    • Thorough knowledge of enterprise data governance principles including data ownership stewardship classification metadata lineage retention access control and lifecycle management

    • Experience in designing developing and supporting production solutions in Databricks

    Minimum Education and Experience

    A bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development

    OR

    An associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development

    OR

    A High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and eight years of experience in business application consulting or development

    OR

    An equivalent combination of education and experience
