General Summary

The Application Developer I position is an entrylevel software development role responsible for supporting debugging maintaining and enhancing internal and customerfacing applications under the guidance of senior developers.

Essential Job Functions

Provides technical support for internal users and testers for all Application Development Team (ADT) built software.

Develops tests debugs and maintains software applications and components.

Implements new features and enhancements per technical specifications.

Documents technical specifications and testing results.

Supports front-end and back-end integration using APIs and data services.

Collaborates with team members to implement solutions and resolve issues.

Conducts unit and integration testing to ensure quality and stability.

Troubleshoots and debugs application issues following established processes.

Participates in code reviews to maintain standards and improve code quality.

Stays current with trends in the Microsoft development ecosystem.

Safely handles government-furnished equipment and materials.

Works a standard weekly schedule of 40 hours with overtime as required.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Possesses sound analytical and problem-solving skills.

Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including concepts like requirements gathering design implementation testing and deployment.

Basic understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts (e.g. encapsulation inheritance polymorphism) and familiarity with common design patterns.

Educational experience with one or more modern programming languages (such as C# Java Python or JavaScript) and familiarity with one or more common frameworks (like MVC Blazor Maui React or Angular).

Foundational knowledge of the complete application development stack including how front-end web clients communicate with back-end servers via APIs.

Familiarity with web technologies like HTML CSS and JavaScript.

Basic knowledge of database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server or similar database systems query languages.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Ability to work under close supervision.

Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials.

Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

A bachelors degree in computer science software engineering programming or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; or

An associate degree plus two (2) years of experience; or

A high school diploma plus four (4) years of experience; or

Completion of a recognized coding bootcamp or technical training program in software development plus one of the following:

- At least one (1) year of relevant experience.
- An associate degree or higher in any field.

To be considered the applicant must be ready to review their past involvement on at least two major software features regardless of technologies used where the applicant contributed a significant portion of the code. This will include a technical analysis of the personally written code detailing the specific problem it solved the decisions made during implementation and a clear justification for why that particular approach was chosen to achieve the projects goals.
