The North Plainfield School District a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3700 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 seeks a dynamic compassionate and student-centered professional for the position of Middle School Counselor.
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive school counseling program that supports students academic success social-emotional well-being and personal growth while helping students develop the skills necessary for future college career and life readiness. Working collaboratively with administrators teachers families and support staff the Middle School Counselor will foster a positive school climate where every student feels supported connected and empowered to succeed.

Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey School Counselor Certificate or eligibility required.
- Knowledge of comprehensive school counseling programs and adolescent development.
- Experience supporting students academic behavioral and social-emotional needs.
- Strong collaboration communication and organizational skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities Include
- Provide individual and small group counseling to support students academic social-emotional and behavioral development.
- Assist students with academic planning goal setting organization and successful transition through the middle school years.
- Promote college and career awareness by helping students explore their interests strengths and future opportunities through developmentally appropriate activities.
- Collaborate with teachers administrators families and support staff to identify and address student needs.
- Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams including Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) Section 504 and other student support teams as appropriate.
- Analyze student data to identify trends monitor progress and develop targeted interventions to improve student outcomes.
- Support attendance initiatives and work collaboratively with families to improve student engagement.
- Assist with crisis response student safety planning and schoolwide wellness initiatives.
- Coordinate referrals to community agencies and outside supports when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with district state and federal requirements.
- Foster strong relationships with students families and community partners.
- Participate in professional learning and contribute to district initiatives that promote student achievement belonging and positive school culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Supervisor.
Salary
$63331 ï½ $107041 commensurate with experience and in accordance with the North Plainfield Education Association negotiated agreement.
