Job Summary

Reports To: Maintenance Director

Dept/Campus: High School

Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Length of Contract: 240 days or equivalent up to 40 hours a week

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety cleanliness and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Preferred high school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to read understand instructions for cleaning maintenance and safety procedures

Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment

Ability to properly handle and label cleaning supplies

Experience:

None required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Maintain professional behavior appearance and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
  2. Articulate a positive image of the school district and school district personnel.
  3. Demonstrate effective customer service strategies to all district patrons.
  4. Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors whiteboards wastebaskets windows furniture equipment and restrooms.
  5. Keep school building and grounds including sidewalks driveways parking lots and play areas neat and clean.
  6. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
  7. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and inform supervisor of supply needs.
  8. Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort health and safety of students and staff.
  9. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to supervisor if required.
  10. Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal or supervisor.
  11. Assume responsibility for opening and/or closing building each school day.
  12. Establish procedure for locking checking and safeguarding facilities.
  13. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are closed and locked during hours of building occupancy.
  14. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
  15. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  16. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting climbing handling chemicals etc.
  17. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  18. Present for students a positive role model that supports the school climate and mission of the school district.
  19. Effectively communicate with colleagues students and parents.
  20. Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
  21. Follow daily weekly and monthly schedule.
  22. Routinely check all fire extinguishers in your assigned area.
  23. Painting as directed.
  24. Other duties as assigned.
