Alternative PlacementTransition Specialist (Bridges)

Description: The role of the Alternative Placement Teacher (Bridges) is to provide instruction and oversee the implementation of the Bridges alternative placement system through collaboration with other Bridges staff as well as district and school team members. This role will be instructing students in various grade levels in an alternative setting or Bridges program. All employees agree to follow Board Policy as well as abide by the rules of the Districts Procedural Manual and Common Contract.

Role Responsibilities:

• Instructing students within the alternative placement setting across content areas and class periods
• Collaboration and communication with alternative placement staff and support personnel
• Communicating with stakeholders regarding student progress Support students in meeting qualifications to exit the program (e.g. behavioral academic attendance SEL)
• Provide school/student support for transitions
• Creating student schedules Ongoing school team participation (ChAT etc.)
• Maintaining accurate grading within the SIS
• Navigate preparation for incoming students
• Participate in YIC/ChAT placement meetings when appropriate

Education andExperience:

• Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Masters degree (preferred) in education or other related field Highly qualified status in secondary content area
• Meet professional educator requirements of school district state (Professional Educator License with USBE)
• At least three years of relevant experience preferred
• Knowledge of relevant technology

Performance Responsibilities:

• Be familiar with and abide by school district policies and stay current in changes in such policies through procedures described by the Board
• Establish and foster a cooperative working relationship with building teams as well as with other District personnel
• Exercise mature and professional judgment in associations with staff and students
• Provide for reasonable care and safety of students who are assigned to them at all times
• Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct
• Provide proper care and reasonable security for all District property in their custody
• Make use of technology for instructional purposes as well as for record keeping administrative and other non-instructional uses as may be required
• Consistently support and assist the building staff in maintaining order and discipline among students
• Perform such other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor
