An additional 6 months of experience may be required beyond current years of service as surgical techs typically undergo a minimum 6-month orientation without being the primary provider. While Level 1 experience is preferred institutions vary; rotations in Burn Transplant and other specialties are especially valued for weekend on-call readiness.
