Alaska Automation Capability Human Factors Engineer

Location: Anchorage AK

Job Description:

The Human Factors Engineer will be an instrumental participant in delivering automation and communications capability across the FAAs 17 Alaska Flight Service Stations (FSS). This initiative will modernize Alaskas flight service infrastructure by replacing legacy systems with a modular suite of modern voice switching call distribution and advanced flight service automation and console technologies. The project emphasizes resilient telecommunications and the integration of legacy and VoIP radio systems to support Alaskas unique and challenging operating environment.

Work Location:

This position is 100% on-site located in Anchorage Alaska.

The ability to travel to remote locations.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in the design of components or portions of NAS-based systems and applications new or existing to improve their usability and facilitate their incorporation into air traffic control operations.
• Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD CAM or CATIA.
• Gathers information makes studies computes calculations and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present a design proposal.
• Coordinates design criteria with other stakeholder groups to promote the ease of use and to best meet contractual specifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.; Minimum 16 years in lieu of a degree
• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Clearance
• Strong experience in requirements definition system decomposition system modeling (e.g. Model-Based Systems Engineering - MBSE) and trade-off studies.
• Proven technical leadership ability including providing direction facilitating working groups and mentoring junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting FAA programs or National Airspace System (NAS) infrastructure projects.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering Telecommunications Computer Science Information Technology or Aviation Systems.
