Air Duct and Piping Superintendent

An Air Duct and Piping Superintendent manages the on-site installation fabrication and quality control of HVAC ductwork and piping systems. They coordinate craft crews interpret blueprints and ensure all work aligns with safety regulations engineering specifications and project schedules. Pay is based on experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Project Oversight: Manage and direct field foremen and up to 20 workers to ensure assigned mechanical operations run efficiently and within budget.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure all duct and piping installations meet structural pressure and regulatory compliance standards.
• Coordination & Planning: Read and interpret complex isometric drawings P&IDs and in-house shop drawings to sequence work properly and coordinate with other trades.
• Safety Enforcement: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (e.g. OSHA regulations hazard assessments) and maintain a clean organized job site.
• Resource Allocation: Oversee the procurement of materials manage tool and equipment usage and forecast workforce requirements.
• Issue Resolution: Investigate and assist with resolving Requests for Information (RFIs) and mitigate clashes or roadblocks between structural piping and duct systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Typically 10 years of progressively responsible field experience in piping and/or HVAC duct construction.
• Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification is universally required; additional technical certifications in welding piping design or quality inspection are highly preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of various materials (e.g. carbon steel stainless steel fiberglass galvanized duct) and joining techniques.

Soft Skills: Excellent leadership time-management and problem-solving abilities to keep projects on track under tight deadlines.
