Our Sensing and Connectivity team is seeking AI Engineer Development Engineer in Test to validate and advance the next generation of location algorithms powering every Apple product. Our proprietary positioning stack fuses GNSS Cellular Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals to deliver the location experience behind Maps Navigation Fitness applications Emergency SOS via Satellite and more. As an AI Engineer you will directly accelerate our processes and improve the teams productivity in measuring accuracy reliability and performance of the location algorithms which ensure hundreds of millions of users can trust the blue dot.

The Software Location QE team operates at the intersection of algorithm development and quality engineering. We design experiments build analysis pipelines and run validation campaigns that prove (or disprove) that location algorithms meet Apples rigorous standards across real-world and simulated looking for an engineer to bring AI-native tooling and agentic workflows to the way we validate our location stack. You will build agentic data pipelines to curate and quality-check location datasets and define the benchmarks that measure model quality reliability and real-world positioning behavior. You will own the quality bar for location features and partner across hardware apps and platform teams to ship AI-driven experiences from the ground up.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Applied Mathematics or equivalent .S. in Computer Science or relevant fieldnExperience building and shipping ML or AI systems in production or through significant project worknHands-on experience with LLMs prompt engineering and agentic frameworksnExperience designing evaluation frameworks quality metrics and test infrastructurenStrong software engineering fundamentals with proficiency in Python and comfort across the stacknDemonstrated ability to deliver end-to-end features against release schedules

Understanding of A-GNSS protocols multi-constellation GNSS operation(GPS Galileo GLONASS BDS) embedded ML systems and sensor-fusion architecturesnFamiliarity with distributed compute platforms and large-scale data infrastructurenPrior experience in fast-paced agile environment with flexibility to pivot quickly to support evolving product requirementsn
