Kemp Quarries Inc.a privately-owned group of companies is a leading producer and supplier of construction aggregates consisting primarily of crushed stone sand and gravel spanning Eastern Oklahoma Southern Missouri and Western Arkansas.

Job Description Summary

  • Intermediate level supervisory responsibilities for all aspects of training and development of a safe and efficient hourly workforce through application of the companys policies and procedures along with MSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the performance of day-to-day operational activities including but not limited to performing MSHA regulated Workplace exams pre-shift equipment inspections validating personnel labor hours reporting equipment usage hours reporting plant production ensuring pit and/or plant operational efficiency coordinating the duties of the labor force facility and roadway maintenance product quality control and continuous production improvement.
  • Day-to-day general and preventive maintenance and operational efficiency of all classifying and mobile equipment and scale house.
  • Assist supervisor in the requisition ordering and maintaining of inventory of essential fuels lubricants oils and equipment and plant wear parts.
  • Communicate and coordinate with shop personnel on all repairs; document all repairs.
  • Lead weekly safety toolbox discussions with employees over pertinent safety topics applicable to the task location or equipment / plant hazards inherent to the operation.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • 3 years experience in aggregate mining operations with a general understanding of blasting crushers screens conveyors and associated processing equipment.
  • Must maintain a safe driving record and have a valid drivers license. CDL a plus.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules although typically day shift will be required.
  • Strong work ethic; excellent leadership interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Will be required to complete MSHA certification.
  • General working knowledge of iPad and iPhone applications and functionality.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work near around or on light or heavy equipment.

Required Skills

  • Regular reliable and on-time attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to operate varied types of heavy equipment a plus.
  • Follows through on commitments.
  • Demonstrates accuracy thoroughness and timeliness in completing work. Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Strives to complete work in timely manner.
  • Treats others with respect and consideration.

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); OR
  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel;reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk or hear; lift objects of various dimensions and up to 50 lbs. The employee is frequently required to climb steps or ladders; balance bend from the trunk of the body and use vibration producing employee is occasionally required to sit smell or lift objects up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to varying environmental temperatures and weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat; high and/or precarious places;fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
