Job Summary
- Assisting with the development & administration of grant-funded budgets;
- Monitoring & approving expenditures to ensure alignment with budgetary priorities and constraints;
- Analyzing financial data and preparing projections forecasts and recommendations;
- Compiling and submitting required financial reports to management and external agencies;
- Budget planning and expenditure tracking support to program managers and department staff;
- Maintaining financial records in accordance with agency policies and record retention requirements;
- Participating in year-end closing activities; and
- Assisting with audits by providing supporting financial documents as needed.
Experience:Five years of experiencein budget preparation presentation and execution.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experiencein budget preparation presentation and execution for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute 30 credithours of graduate education from an accredited college or university in accounting business administration economics finance political science or public administration for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with the Maryland Financial Management Information System (FMIS) or other accounting software
- Experience with federal and state grants
