Afternoon Shift Maintenance / Custodian
Position Description
The custodian is responsible for keeping the assigned area of the school clean safe functional and secure. Custodian workers must maintain the school building in a state of operational excellence. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and includes health and dental coverage pension and paid holidays/vacation. The hours of this position are Monday - Friday 3:30pm - Midnight. Summer hours are 6:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Thursday.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Reports to the Director of Facilities.
- Maintain clean and neat storage areas supplies and equipment in the area of the building assigned.
- Maintain good sanitary conditions of facilities.
- Stocks restrooms with necessary paper products.
- Notifies the director concerning the need for repairs.
- Maintains surrounding premises as needed.
- Acts as backup to clean and service unassigned areas as needed.
- On-call availability for emergencies.
- Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
- Wash windows and walls
- Scrub wax and buff floors periodically.
- Vacuum hallways offices and all other areas.
- Move and set up furniture.
- Change light bulbs.
- Keep locker doors cleaned.
- Clean Café buff floor.
- Dust around windows doors pictures ledges and bookcases.
- Keep the staff lounge clean sink refrigerator tables and microwaves.
- Assist with the removal of snow/ice prior to school events and on no school days.
- Some weekends/holidays as needed.
- Hours will be determined according to the school calendar.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Requires the ability to do a wide variety of moderate physical activity both indoors and outdoors.
- Physically active for long periods
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Lifting carrying pushing or pulling objects and materials up to 50 pounds
- Repeating the same motions
- Kneeling stooping crouching and crawling
- Bending stretching twisting or reaching out
- Climbing stairs
- Performing minor ladder work
Required Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or GED.
- Physically able to lift bend stoop climb and reach able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Verbal skills to communicate with co-workers school staff and others.
- Self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks.
- Willingness to support the mission of Gabriel Richard Catholic High School and a Catholic Education
- High level of discretion confidentiality and integrity.
- Ability to be reached by phone.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Willing to provide authorization for a criminal background check
- Willing to participate in a Protecting Gods Children Workshop
