Summary:

• Maintains type design definition of aircraft by producing form fit and function documentation.

• Engages engineering manufacturing and product support teams to complete designs.

• Participates in design reviews.

• Prepares engineering reports and presentations.

• Mentors junior engineers when required.

• Applies understanding of structures and mechanical system design criteria including design loads and durability (fatigue and corrosion).

• Applies understanding of design and manufacturing processes for metallic and composite parts with focus on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).

• Applies 3D Model Based Definition (3D MBD) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for details and assemblies.

• Selects appropriate methods techniques and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.

• Balances technical product cost and schedule in problem solving.

Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

• Bachelors Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum applicable to the job position or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 10 years in specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors.

• Experience credit for related advanced degrees: limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

• Thorough understanding of structures and mechanical system design criteria including design loads and durability (fatigue and corrosion).

• Solid understanding of design and manufacturing processes for metallic and composite parts with focus on DFMA.

• Solid understanding of 3D Model Based Definition (3D MBD) and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for details and assemblies.

• Preferred: Proficiency in CATIA V5 workbenches (part design for machined parts sheet metal Composite Part Design FT&A Kinematics Knowledge Based Engineering tools including parameters design tables and Visual Basic macros).

• Preferred: Proficiency in SmarTeam PLM database.

• Preferred: Prior work experience with aircraft design.
