Job Description -

We are looking for an Engineer Aeronautical 2 to support our Mechanical Engineering Energetics department. As a member of the Mechanical Engineering department youll get to support a family of launch vehicles or hardware development procurement and test. This role will perform various ordnance pneumatic hydraulic and motor analysis and integration activities. This position will serve on-site at our Chandler AZ location.


Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Perform analysis design or test of one or more moderately complex materials (including energetics) structural components and control systems for propulsion systems.
  • Apply engineering principles industry standards company standards and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems for application in launch vehicles missile systems and space mission systems
  • Select applicable analytical data from previous products determine the technical principles involved mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications design needs and requirements of other portions of the product
  • Coordinate strategy for developing and leveraging multi-disciplinary design optimization and analysis processes to support mission requirements. Define and coordinate the conduct of testing required to evaluate design work
  • Perform hands on test support of pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems through functional and environmental testing
  • Perform responsible engineer duties leading the Integrated Product Team of a medium sized subcontract coordinating supplier change notifications non-conformances hardware acceptance reviews etc.
  • Conduct pre-launch engineering reviews examining as built vehicle hardware pre-launch data assessing flight readiness and working with the flight field teams
  • Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs
  • Based on broadly defined problems study basic design concepts and criteria for complex materials components or functional systems and applies the engineering principles involved to develop new designs
  • Anticipate customer needs and find innovative ways to provide for those needs
  • Originate and develop constructive ideas. Consistently look for ways to modify or change existing methods or processes to improve outcomes
  • Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution; Analyze project requirements and develop detailed planning conceptual designs and risk analysis
  • Interact with internal and external customers; Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems
  • Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers
  • Support new business and prepare proposal material
  • Travel up to 10% of the time to supplier and launch facilities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline (Science Technology Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Masters degree in STEM with 0 years of related engineering experience
  • Active US Government Secret Security Clearance or higher at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree
