Through more than 25 programs across Washington DC and Prince Georges County Maryland SBY helps young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability to access safe homes life skills workforce development and behavioral health support.

Position Summary

Sasha Bruce Youthwork seeks a dynamic highly organized and relationship-oriented Advancement Manager to support and grow the organizations fundraising efforts with a primary focus on individual giving donor engagement and special events.

The Advancement Manager will play a central role in creating meaningful donor experiences strengthening donor relationships supporting fundraising growth and advancing SBYs mission through strategic engagement and thoughtful execution.

The role combines significant responsibility for SBYs annual fundraising event and donor experiences as well as ongoing management of individual giving donor engagement stewardship and fundraising campaigns.

Working closely with the Director and Deputy Director of Advancement and other members of the Advancement team the Advancement Manager will help identify cultivate solicit and steward donors while supporting fundraising strategy campaign execution and donor engagement efforts. The position will also serve as project manager for SBYs annual fundraising event and other donor-facing activities throughout the year.

The Advancement team is growing creating opportunities for the Advancement Manager to help shape donor engagement strategies fundraising campaigns and event success while contributing to the continued expansion of private philanthropic support.

The Advancement Manager will work closely with colleagues across the organization while serving as a visible ambassador for Sasha Bruce with donors volunteers sponsors and community partners.


Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Management

Serve as project manager and lead coordinator for SBYs annual fundraising event and related cultivation events.

  • Manage all aspects of event planning and execution including vendors production logistics permitting insurance and contracts
  • Develop project timelines production schedules and planning calendars
  • Coordinate speakers performers volunteers staffing guest management and donor experience
  • Oversee ticketing auction registration and event technology platforms
  • Partner with Communications to support event marketing and promotional efforts
  • Lead on-site event execution troubleshooting and post-event reporting


Individual Giving & Donor Engagement


  • Manage and help grow a portfolio of individual donors and prospects
  • Conduct donor and prospect research to support cultivation solicitation and stewardship strategies
  • Coordinate donor meetings cultivation opportunities stewardship activities and solicitation efforts independently and alongside Advancement leadership
  • Support annual giving campaigns recurring giving workplace giving peer-to-peer fundraising and donor communications
  • Assist with donor segmentation pipeline management cultivation planning and fundraising projections
  • Track fundraising progress and help identify opportunities to strengthen donor retention and engagement
Advancement Operations & Team Support
  • Maintain accurate donor records and data integrity within Salesforce and related systems
  • Review fundraising performance reports and support donor campaign and event analysis
  • Partner with Advancement colleagues on gift processing acknowledgements reporting and database management
  • Collaborate across Advancement Programs Operations Finance and Communications to support fundraising initiatives and donor engagement
  • Assist with advancement systems workflows volunteer engagement and special projects


Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising donor engagement event management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing events fundraising initiatives or other complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Strong project management organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage donors volunteers sponsors Board members and community partners.
  • Experience conducting donor or prospect research and supporting cultivation solicitation and stewardship activities.
  • Experience using fundraising CRM systems such as Salesforce Raisers Edge or similar platforms to manage donor information track engagement and support fundraising activities.
  • Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and remain flexible and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to SBYs mission racial equity LGBTQ affirming practice and youth-centered work.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing fundraising galas benefits or other large-scale nonprofit events.
  • Familiarity with annual giving donor stewardship fundraising campaigns and moves management.
  • Experience participating in donor cultivation solicitation or stewardship meetings.
  • Experience with online fundraising auction ticketing peer-to-peer or donor engagement platforms.
  • Experience supporting volunteer engagement corporate partnerships or sponsorship programs.
  • Knowledge of Mailchimp Canva Salesforce reporting or similar fundraising and communications tools.
  • Comfort representing an organization at donor meetings community events and public-facing engagements.
  • Interest in growing into increasing levels of fundraising and advancement leadership responsibility.
