Weanticipatethe need for one or more Advanced Step Apprentice/ Journeyman Gas Technician(s) to belocatedat our Fargo Service Center Fargo ND or our Grand Forks Service Center in Grand Forks ND. The starting Journeyman rate of pay for this position is $52.25 Apprentice will be coming in at 62.5% of the Journeyman rate as a 1st step 68.75% for 2nd step 75% for 3rd step 81.25% for 4th step 87.5% for 5th step or 93.75% for 6th step.

Summary

Work as part of Gas constructionmaintenanceand operations crew including work with gas services and mainsoperatemechanical trenching/excavating equipment and related tools necessary to install gas mains and services. Plastic pipe fusion service regulators odorization meter and regulation tapping operational surveys customer priority work fitting knowledge and ability to respond to gas leak (inside and outside) investigation/emergencies gas leak repair cathodic protection locating meter reading valve maintenance and material handling district regulator maintenance instrument calibration meter and large regulator sizing/maintenance/installation.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.

• Mustpossessa valid drivers license and be able to obtain a Class A commercial drivers license (must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391).

• One or more years of Gas Construction and/or Gas service experience desired.

• One or more years of gas pipeline welding experience desired.

• Must be certified in plastic fusion per Xcel Energy requirements within 6 months of hire.

• Able to lift 50 pounds.

• High awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules.

• Journeyman-level requires 5 or more years of experience as a Gas Technician.

• Mustpossessa working knowledge and rebuild of all types of gas regulatorsodorizersand SCADA controls

Desired: Technical degree in gas utility construction experience in gas regulation and knowledge of gas appliances experience in operating mechanical trenching/excavating equipment and electronic locating and testing equipment.

Special Requirements

• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to build andmaintainpositive working relationships in a team-oriented environment.

• Direct customer contact experience is desirable.

• Position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.

• Must live within a 20-mile radius of the service center within 6 months of hire.

• Subject to on-call duty on a rotating basis.

Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $32.66 to $52.25 per hour
