Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Acute Care Surgery

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment & Management: Perform comprehensive assessments of acute surgical patients develop and implement treatment plans monitor progress and adjust care as needed in collaboration with resident and attending physicians.
• Critical Care Procedures: Perform bedside procedures such as suturing drain placement/removal and wound care management.
• Coordination of Care: Work closely with surgeons critical care intensivists surgery and medicine residents and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
• Patient Monitoring: Continuously evaluate patient condition monitor vital signs and interpret lab results diagnostic imaging and other data to guide treatment decisions.
• Family Communication: Provide education and emotional support to patients families ensuring they are well-informed about the patients condition treatment options and prognosis.
• Clinical Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate electronic medical records (EMRs) of patient care including assessments treatments interventions and outcomes.
• Leadership & Education: Serve as a clinical leader through nursing staff education and contribute to the training of students and residents as needed.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiativesand continuing education to stay current with best practices in emergency surgery care.

Skills: Strong clinical judgment critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced high-stress environment.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in surgery trauma emergency medicine or critical care settings preferred.

Masters Degree - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required

Board certification Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care certification or Board certification as Physician Assistant; Active New Jersey License; American Heart Association BLS and CDS/DEA
