Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • The incumbent performs clerical and administrative duties primarily at the St. Tammany Parish Health Unit within the Office of Public Health/Region 9 but is also assigned to work in other parish health units. The position may require sporadic routine or frequent travel outside of the employees domicile parish to perform clerical related duties.
  • Incumbent must possess basic/intermediate personal computer skills including Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel as well as knowledge of computer-based health records.
  • This position serves as the Local Registrar for Vital Records in the ST. TAMMANY Parish Health Unit as well as the time administrator purchasing coordinator and property and safety liaison for this location.
  • The incumbent will also perform clerical duties such as but not limited to answering/addressing telephone and front desk inquiries scheduling appointments making reminder calls using various electronic health records systems to document patient information performing eligibility screening and insurance verification for services and fee screening and collections. This position coordinates complex administrative duties for service delivery of various programs such as Reproductive Health WIC Immunizations and the Tuberculosis (TB) Program.
  • The incumbent when directed is required to respond to public health emergencies in a designated role at a specified site including but not limited to a Medical Needs Shelter or a Point of Dispensing site. Participated in emergency preparedness drills and activities are required.
  • Accepts and performs additional duties which may not be listed but are deemed essential for the smooth operation of the clinics and the agency.
