The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value planning developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.

This position is located at the State Capitol and State Parks Administrative Office in Baton Rouge LA. The Administrative Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting daily site operations by providing reliable high-level administrative assistance and exceptional customer service. This position serves as a key point of contact for visitors maintains the inventory and resale of the gift shop and helps maintain an organized efficient work environment. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented professional and committed to delivering responsive high-quality support.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Maintains inventory of resale items & operational stock and reviews sales records to determine what items need to be ordered.
  • Assists with the display & organization of resale merchandise as well as pricing merchandise for sales.
  • Works with vendors to ensure timeliness & accuracy of products & services. Inspects incoming inventory & compares specifications on invoices purchase orders etc.
  • Works closely with the State Parks business office to ensure all purchasing & bidding guidelines are followed.
  • Handles cash and card transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Greets visitors and provides information to them and answers questions. Provides a high level of customer service.

Position-Specific Details:
Location:State Parks Administrative Office Baton Rouge LA
Appointment Type:Job Appointment- In the event that funds become available for a permanent position the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Career Progression:This position may be filled as an Administrative Coordinator 1 2 3 or 4. As part of a Career Progression Group vacancies may be filled based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Work Schedule:The Shop at the Top gift shop is open 7 days/week from 9:00 am-3:00 pm (closed for major holidays). Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week which can include weekends as needed to ensure coverage.
Compensation: Compensation offered will be dependent on level of experience and certification so please be sure to include all education and work experience for consideration.
