Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is looking for a proactive Administrative Assistant to support the Reactor Plant Contractors Office at Newport News Shipbuilding. This role offers unique leadership opportunities serving as the onsite representative for the NNL in coordinating Security Facilities and Safety activities. Youll manage essential office operationsincluding budgeting travel purchasing PPE programs shipping/receiving personnel onboarding security coordination and facility upkeepwhile supporting RPCO managers and staff. The position also involves maintaining technical libraries and using tools like OneNote SharePoint databases and spreadsheets to keep the organization running smoothly.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Preferred Skills
  • Current/previous Administrative Assistant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including effective correspondence management.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel to prepare executive presentations.
  • Experience creating and maintaining websites.
  • Experience with arranging travel and employee relocation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in performing routine office functions such as budget management and streamlining business processes to enhance office efficiency.
  • Demonstrated initiative to work independently.
  • Demonstrated successful multitasking and making decisions to organize and manage day-to-day office functions.
  • Demonstrated success working in a collaborative environment.

Pay Range
$52300.00 - $78500.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion LLC (FMP) a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Kenneth A. Kesselring Site and Naval Reactors Facility and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.
