Department Summary

The Career Readiness Center supports current UNT Health students and alumni in achieving their professional development goals by providing individualized career coaching and workshops.

Position Overview

The Assistant for the Career Readiness Center (Division of Student Affairs) will provide general office support for Career Readiness Center activities and functions including: office management such as answering phone and e-mail inquiries scheduling and approving student appointments and assistance with departmental activities such as: social media management support job fairs job postings workshops and special events website maintenance and other general office support functions. This role requires in-person office coverage at least once per week and support during events. Please note this part-time position allows for a maximum of 15 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in progress or completed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Comfortable using technology and social media and creation platforms such as: Microsoft Outlook Excel Teams Canva Instagram LinkedIn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with social media and creation platforms such as Canva Instagram and LinkedIn.

Job Duties

  • General Desk Coverage; answer phones take messages schedule staff appointments and return all calls and emails from new and prospective students.
  • Administrative Assistance; assist the departmental staff with clerical/administrative tasks as needed. Examples include creating and maintaining bulletin boards filing delivering and picking up sensitive academic documents maintaining accurate database of student records assisting with cash deposits etc.
  • Assist with student activity programming as needed. Examples include assisting with New Student Orientation Organization Fair International Week Internship and Residency Fair Commencement White Coat Ceremony and other Divisional events.
  • Scheduling and approving student appointments assisting with departmental activities such as job fairs job postings workshops and special events website maintenance and other general office support functions.
  • Assist with social media post creation and posting strategy to spread awareness of the Career Readiness Center online.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
  • Repetitive motions that may include the wrists hands and/or fingers.

Environmental Hazards

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Work Schedule

In-person office coverage at least once per week and support during events. 8:00am-5:00pm up to 15 hours per week.
