Adjunct Professor of Political Science

Job Description: The Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS) at Arcadia University invites applications for an adjunct professor of Political Science to teach two courses in the fall of 2026: Introduction to American Politics and Political Science Research and Writing (cross-listed with the Criminology and Criminal Justice program). There may be a need for additional courses in subsequent semesters.

This position is in the Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS) which is an interdisciplinary department with undergraduate majors in Political Science Law & Public Policy International Relations Diplomacy and Law National Security Studies Peace and Conflict Resolution Global Studies Art & Global Change Global Displacement & Human Rights Advocacy History Philosophy as well as one Masters program (International Peace & Conflict Resolution).

Responsibilities:

• Teach one in person section of Introduction to American Politics on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30-10:10 and one in person section of Political Science Research Writing (cross-listed as Criminal Justice Research Writing) on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-5:40.
  
• Prepare course materials and grade related assignments along with tasks associated with teaching weekly courses.
  
• Meet with students during regular weekly office hours.
  
• Meet regularly with the Program Director of the Politics Government and Law program within the HAPS department.

Qualifications:

• Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Political Science or be near completion of the degree and should demonstrate excellence in and commitment to teaching.
