Job Summary

Position Summary:

Albright Colleges Chemistry program in the Division of Natural Sciences seeks applications for adjunct faculty to teach laboratory. Successful candidates will teach a section of General Chemistry I and/or Organic Chemistry I laboratory for Fall 2026 and opportunities exist for future teaching. Laboratory sections are in-person for 3.5 hours on the Albright campus in Reading PA. The laboratory curriculum is shared across all sections of the laboratory course including common learning objectives procedures safety protocols and grading procedures.

Required Qualification:

  • MS or PhD in chemistry biochemistry or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching undergraduate students and/or assisting with laboratories.
  • Experience with a learning management system such as Brightspace.

Essential Job Duties

A successful candidate will:

  • Provide background for laboratory experiments to General Chemistry and/or Organic Chemistry laboratory sections ensuring students grasp fundamental concepts and develop essential laboratory skills.
  • Aid students during laboratory sessions.
  • Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Evaluate student performance with timely and constructive feedback using common evaluation procedures across sections.
  • Enforce laboratory safety protocols and hazardous waste procedures.
  • Respond to student questions during office hours and by email throughout the semester.
