About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The Colleges fifth president Dr. Mary Way Bolt reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Marylands most northeastern county just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore as well as from Wilmington Delaware.

With a diverse student population Cecil College enrolls approximately 2500 credit students and 3400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

General Duties

Adjunct Instructor of English needed.

Semester run through 8/31/2026 - 12/22/2026

The successful adjunct instructor will be responsible for conducting in-person daytime English 101 College Composition in accordance with Cecil College-approved syllabi and the stipulations of the Department of English and Humanities on our main campus or on a nearby high school campus.

Qualifications:
  • M.A. M.F.A. or Ph.D. in English or Rhetoric and Composition
  • Successful teaching experience required college-level preferred
  • LMS experience (e.g. Canvas)
  • Availability for in-person daytime teaching
Criteria for consideration:
  • Only completed applications (resume letter of application portfolio and unofficial transcripts) will receive consideration. Only applicants who are authorized to work in the United States and who reside in Maryland or its contiguous states will be eligible for hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files ledgers and small a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing arerequiredoccasionally and other sedentary criteria are met
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms e.g. use of safe workplace practices with office equipment avoidance of trips and falls and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving

The Fiscal Year 2026 Credit Adjunct Scale is as follows: 2 semesters of less at Cecil ($830 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters60 or $855 a credit hour for individuals Masters60 or a Earned Doctorate); More than 2 semesters at Cecil ($855 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters60 or $880 a credit hour for individuals Masters60 or a Earned Doctorate).
