Job Summary

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty of Strings Orchestra

Reporting Relationship: Chair Division of Music

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Music-IWUM

Campus Location: Marion Indiana; Onsite

Summary of Position: Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.

Seeking faculty in areas of violin and viola instruction orchestral directing and general string techniques instruction.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the universitys learning management system)
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner

Qualifications:According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Masters degree in music preferred
  • Bachelors degree required

Experience

  • Demonstrated talent and accomplishment in relevant playing and/or teaching
  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills organization skills to facilitate management of student work
  • Ability to communicate with and teach students at all levels of musicianship
