Pay Range: $20/ hr
Reports to: Department Chair Hospitality Administration/Culinary Arts

Required Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills -
- Proficient in food knowledge
- Proficient with safety and sanitation guidelines in a production kitchen
Analytical Skills -
- Ability to manage large volume production and calculation of needs for the shift
Communication Skills -
- Strong verbal skills in a large group of workers
- Ability to articulate needs to other staff and management
- Ability to communicate with non-professional food service workers
Problem Solving -
- Ability to make decisions independently and solve complex problems dealing with high volume food production
Teamwork -
- Ability to work independently and with team in large groups
- Ability to delegate tasks to volunteers
Project Management -
- Ability to multitask and perform wide variety of tasks
Externship Responsibilities:
- Complete your degree externship requirement with an unforgettable experience at the 2026 Indiana State Fair.
- Train for the grand opening in August and work through the bustling state fair season.
- Continue your experiential field opportunity and contribute to the success of the propertys largest free-standing concession.
- Gain hands-on experience in the dairy industry through the preparation of dairy foods sanitation marketing and customer service through this first-of-its-kind externship with the American Dairy Association Indiana (ADAI).

Externship Timeline:
- Training intervals in July (hours TBD)
- Fair Hours: 48 hours/week (August 7 - August 23 closed on Mondays)
- Concludes: August 23 2026
Educational Requirements:
- HOSP 280 Externship Requirement. Must be enrolled in Summer HOSP 280 class while training for the opening day of the Indiana State Fair.
