Activities Coordinator- West Palm Beach

Summary

Under the administrative direction and supervision of Management the role plans develops implements and oversees recreational therapy services for program participants.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

• Evaluates and implements creative individualized and therapeutic activities for participants care plans.
• Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants.
• Trains staff on new recreational therapy activities and programs.
• Plans and offers varied monthly programs and uses group and individual oriented interventions to maximize participants cognitive and functional abilities.
• Offers therapeutic activities daily for participants with special needs.
• Documents participant involvement in activities and revises care plans as needed.
• Actively participates in team discussions offering feedback ideas and suggestions both on a day-to-day basis and in staff meetings.
• Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

(EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

• BA degree in therapeutic recreation or related field required or 1-3 years of professional work experience with a minimum of one year experience working with the frail and elderly.
• Valid drivers license and automobile insurance in the State of Florida.
• Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule.
• Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English.
• Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants.
• Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning in any area Company serves.
• Ability to manage stress.
• Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including but not limited to: lifting participants and/or equipment bending pushing/pulling kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

COMPETENCIES

• Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

• Florida Drivers License. Recreational Therapist License Preferred.
