How youll contribute
An Activities Therapistwho excels in this role:
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide recreational and activity services to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse dual diagnosis or psychiatric or emotional disorders.
- Assists and executes activity therapy to provide medically approved recreation programs including such activities as sports dramatics games arts and crafts to assist patients to develop interpersonal relationships to socialize effectively and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities.
- Provides recreation and activity groups to patients.
- Documents the patients response to groups pertinent to patient treatment as appropriate.
- Provides and documents appropriate alternate interventions when patients miss groups.
- Provides groups according to the protocol set forth by the Activity Therapist communicate and work with the patient to achieve the greatest benefit and resolution.
- Maintains constant communication with the Activity Therapist when patient is not responding to the treatments.
- Contributes to the effective functioning of the patients program. Understands the age differences and the corresponding developmental needs.
- Provides activities suitable to the patients needs and offers a variety of stimuli in accordance with the treatment plan.
- Contributes to maintain a quality program to satisfy the therapeutic needs of the patient. Offers direction and education to maintain clear communication of expectations.
- Provides quality programming to support the objectives of the patient and their families.
- Contributes to treatment planning with feedback to nursing and program staff to achieve therapeutic interventions.

Additional Information:

What were looking for
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility with direct experience working with chemical dependency dual diagnosis psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
- De-escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
