Activities Assistant - Position Overview:
- Responsible for assisting in the ongoing development implementation and evaluation of all events and activities for the CARES Center.
- Assesses the interests of youth served based on observation and interviews.
- Utilizes professional knowledge and judgement to plan coordinate and to facilitate outings and campus wide events throughout the calendar year.
- Works with program staff to ensure activities and events align with therapeutic goals and safety precautions of youth served.
- Helps plan and manage a full summer camp program for youth in coordination with the Activities Coordinator and Recreation Therapist.
- Assists with the volunteer program at the CARES Center including recruiting training placement and retention of volunteers.
- Ensures visitors and volunteers are welcomed with excellent customer service.
- Ensures refreshments are available and guests are welcomed to CARES in conjunction with CARES Receptionist.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to read write speak and understand English and to communicate in a therapeutic and professional manner.
- Must be available to work weekend and evening hours as needed.
- Bachelors Degree in Recreation Therapy Education Adaptive Physical Education Behavioral Health or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in residential or similar setting with at least some experience in activities and events is preferred.
- Some experience coordinating volunteers is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
