About the Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing private investment-backed organization seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and develop its AP function. This individual will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounts payable operations managing a team improving processes and helping scale the accounting organization as the company continues to grow.
This is a highly visible position that will partner closely with Accounting Finance Operations and leadership teams to ensure timely and accurate payment processing while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mentor and develop a team of approximately 34 Accounts Payable professionals
- Oversee the full accounts payable lifecycle including invoice processing approvals vendor maintenance payment execution and issue resolution
- Manage high-volume AP operations and ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments
- Review and improve AP workflows controls and procedures to increase efficiency and scalability
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor-related issues
- Monitor AP aging payment trends and key performance metrics
- Support month-end close activities including AP-related reconciliations and reporting
- Ensure compliance with company policies internal controls and audit requirements
- Assist with implementation and optimization of systems automation initiatives and process improvements
- Serve as a key point of contact for vendor relationships and escalated payment matters
Qualifications
- 5 years of Accounts Payable leadership experience
- Previous experience managing or supervising AP professionals
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes controls and best practices
- Experience operating in a high-volume invoice environment
- Demonstrated success driving process improvements and workflow efficiencies
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience partnering with accounting and finance leadership teams
- ERP experience preferred (SAP Oracle Dynamics Workday NetSuite or similar)
Compensation: $80000 - $100000 base salary
Location: Richmond VA area (Hybrid 3 days per week in office)
Reports To: Accounting Leadership
