Position Summary
Burns Dirt is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Payable Clerk to join our dynamic team. The Accounts Payable Coordinator will be responsible for managing and processing all invoices ensuring timely and accurate payment to vendors and subcontractors. This role requires strong attention to detail excellent organizational skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
Review and verify invoices and check requests.
Sort code and match invoices to purchase orders and contracts.
Enter and upload invoices into the accounting system.
Set up invoices for payment and process check runs.
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date.
Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
Maintain vendor files and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
Assist in month-end closing and preparation of financial reports.
Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to resolve payment and billing inquiries.
Maintain compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Assist with other accounting and administrative tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role preferably within the construction industry.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Viewpoint Spectrum Quickbooks) and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.
Strong understanding of construction accounting practices and cost coding.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
