Job Duties
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant Sr. to work in our Finance Department. The Accounts Payable Accountant Sr. processes high-volume financial transactions in compliance with the Prompt Payment Act state regulations and agency policies. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of payments to vendors employees and other entities which includes auditing and processing financial transactions maintaining refund records reconciling disbursements and supporting both internal and external audits.
The Finance Department supports the agencys mission by ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions within the Accounts Payable unit safeguarding DMV financial resources and maintaining compliance with state regulations and agency policies.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience in Accounts Payable or general accounting
Experience working in high-volume invoice processing and vendor management
Experience working with travel and employee reimbursement
Working knowledge of full-cycle accounts payable processing three-way matching purchase orders vendor management invoice auditing payment processing resolving invoice discrepancies and vendor refunds
Working knowledge of GAAP principles internal controls and financial regulations including the Prompt Pay Act
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and ensure accuracy and compliance with fiscal regulations
Ability to prioritize meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team
Strong attention to detail accuracy and organizational skills
Proficiency in accounting software such as Oracle PeopleSoft or Cardinal
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Additional Considerations
Experience working in state government accounting is preferred
