Job Summary
Downtown Manhattan is seeking an Accountant to support the Chief Financial Officer across accounting payroll budgeting and financial reporting functions. This role is a key contributor to the team and plays an important part in maintaining the organizations financial health through accurate processing reporting and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Financial Operations Administration & HR Support
Invoice processing & preparation of vendor payments.
Identify and track expense allocations.
Perform account reconciliations including bank investment and Client
accounts.
Process accounts receivable and support collections activities.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes & reports.
Assist and support preparation of regulatory filings such as 1099s and Form 990.
Support annual audit activities.
Support budgeting & planning with forecasting of revenue expenses and cash flow.
Payroll Benefits & Cross-Functional Support
Assist with reviewing biweekly payroll reports for accuracy and reconciliation.
Track PTO usage and maintain payroll-related records in ADP.
Assist with commuter insurance and benefit reimbursement tracking.
Cross-train with HR on payroll and benefits processes as needed.
Ad hoc: perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Economics or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two years of financial analysis or accounting experience; nonprofit or
association experience preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite / Excel; strong data analysis and modeling
skills.
Understanding of GAAP.
Experience with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks ADP or Power BI
preferred.
High level of accuracy attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
