We are recruiting for an Accounting Manager tojoin a stable profitable and growing organization in the Calaveras County area. This role manages day-to-day accounting month-end close financial reporting and process improvements while supervising the Accounting Specialist.
The qualified candidate will be a hands-on Accounting Manager with strong construction accounting experience to oversee the companys financial operations and support business functions. Success in this role requires someone who is meticulous forward-thinking and driven to establish structure enhance processes and uphold accurate well-maintained financial records. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial fast-growing environment and wants to step into a future Controller role.
- Salary Range: $120000-$140000 DOE Discretionary Bonus
- 100% onsite
- Flexible start time as early as 7:00 am
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations including AP AR payroll coordination and supervision of the Accounting Specialist.
- Manage month-end close general ledger accuracy reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Maintain clean organized financial records and strong checks and balances.
- Implement and refine processes for job costing and construction-related accounting workflows.
- Prepare and deliver financial statements reporting packages and insights to leadership.
- Monitor cash flow expenses and overall financial performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors and tax partners.
- Partner with CPA/bookkeeper on financial reporting tax filings and compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support business operations through system optimization and process development.
- Manage vendor relationships including CPA firms.
- Develop and maintain internal procedures documentation and operational standards.
- Provide reporting and operational insights to support leadership decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or Business Administration required.
- 510 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Construction accounting experience required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP month-end close GL management variance analysis and job costing.
- Knowledge of California and Federal compliance requirements.
- Experience in small to mid-sized companies with broad hands-on responsibilities.
- High level of organization accuracy and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with leadership.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
