BASIC FUNCTIONS: Nucor Steel Hertford County is seeking a leader for the position of Accounting Manager. This role is a key member of the division leadership team and is responsible for leading the accounting function to excellence. This position goes beyond execution and transactional oversight. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely delivery of accounting processes while also developing teammates shaping culture aligning with division priorities and serving as a business partner across the organization.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead develop and grow the accounting team fostering a culture of accountability engagement and continuous improvement
- Coordinate and ensure execution of all accounting processes including general ledger accounts payable fixed assets inventory and period-end close/reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies internal controls and audit requirements
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency accuracy and scalability
- Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights support decision-making and drive division performance
- Support budgeting forecasting cost management and continuous improvement initiatives across the division
- Lead implementation communication and interpretation of accounting and financial policies and procedures
- Provide analytical support to improve cost efficiency and overall business performance
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance-related experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate work drive accountability and deliver results
- CPA CMA or MBA
- Manufacturing or cost accounting experience
- Experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
