Why This Role Matters

As an Accounting Intern with ITW Mechanical Fastening youll gain hands-on experience supporting Finance and Operations while developing skills in accounting financial reporting data analytics and process improvement. This role combines traditional accounting exposure with a meaningful business project focused on improving how key financial and operational information is organized reported and used to support decision-making. Working alongside Finance and Operations leaders youll contribute to real business initiatives while building experience that prepares you for a future career in accounting or finance.

What Youll Do

• Support month-end close activities including journal entries reconciliations and related financial reporting tasks.
• Partner with Finance and Operations to develop reporting tools that improve access to key financial and operational information and support business decision-making.
• Organize validate and analyze financial and operational data to identify trends improve reporting and generate business insights.
• Evaluate current reporting processes and identify opportunities to simplify automate and improve efficiency.
• Explore how AI and automation tools can improve the efficiency consistency and accessibility of financial reporting while validating outputs for accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present project outcomes insights recommendations and key learnings to division leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

What You Need to Succeed

Must-Have

• Rising senior pursuing a Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Analytical mindset strong attention to detail and comfort working with large data sets.
• Resourceful self-motivated and eager to learn in a dynamic business environment.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Power BI Tableau or other reporting and data visualization tools.
• Exposure to AI automation or process improvement initiatives.
• Previous internship project or coursework related to accounting finance reporting or business analytics.
