ACCOUNTING CLERK
About the Opportunity
A dynamic local commercial real estate firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Clerk to support our New Orleans office portfolio. Our diverse portfolio includes retail medical and office building assets offering a fast-paced and engaging environment.
In this role youll play a key part in supporting our property accountants and ensuring that daily accounting operations run smoothly and efficiently. If you thrive in an organized numbers-driven environment and enjoy contributing to a collaborative team we want to hear from you.
What Youll Do
- Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting documents and related information
- Provide essential accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
- Reconcile general ledger accounts as requested in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records
- Prepare bank deposits and ensure proper A/R posting in accounting software
- Pay invoices by verifying transaction information scheduling and preparing disbursements and obtaining authorization of payment
- Maintain accounting ledgers by posting account transactions
- Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation and issuing stop payments payments or adjustments
- Maintain financial security by following internal accounting controls
- Secure financial information by completing database backups
- Maintain financial historical records by filing accounting documents
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Contribute to overall team success by supporting department goals and initiatives
What Youll Bring
- Ability to process and track large volumes of data across multiple properties
- Strong administrative writing skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Solid general math skills
- Experience working with financial software (Yardi preferred)
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of financial reporting
- Clear and professional verbal communication skills
