Position Summary: The Accessioner/Phlebotomist is responsible for the receiving sorting labeling and the processing of daily specimens that are to be analyzed and reported.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify residents correctly per procedure outlined in MediaLab 153105.635 Proper Patient or Resident Identification
• Collect all samples including blood and swabs (on occasion) with accuracy and efficiency per facility needs.
• Make sure all samples are labeled correctly and reflect what is on the requisition to include all pick-up samples.
• Adhere to all Safety and Health standards while you are working in the facility and or traveling; To include all residents and facilities (PHI and PPE requirements).
• Complete all required documentation within your workday to include Carevolve orders and accompanying forms as instructed by billing department.
• Check all facility accordions for any add on orders; confirm with nurse and fax to dispatch if needed.
• Prepare all samples correctly for transport and deliver to laboratory or courier.
• Maintain all communication as directed.
• Maintain a professional persona and dress as set forth by the standards of the company.
• Collaborate with other internal departments as needed.
• Follow instructions and/or other duties as directed by your supervisor.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens required.

Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens preferred.

MUST HAVE Orchard Harvest LIS data entry experience
