This position assists students and faculty with AIM system usage online testing processes and accommodation-related support while ensuring compliance with ADA Section 504 and university policies.

The role also supports departmental operations through budget tracking billing and purchase order processing inventory management report generation and administrative support for department leadership. Additional responsibilities include supervising and training student employees monitoring timesheets scheduling meetings and appointments and maintaining accurate records and data. Strong technical organizational communication and customer service skills are essential for success in this student-centered role.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Accessibility Specialist position is responsible for overseeing accommodations and proctored testing for students with disabilities utilizing the AIM database to schedule exams coordinate testing rooms and communicate with students and faculty. This role also supports office operations by assisting with budget planning tracking departmental expenses managing supply and technology inventories and processing purchase orders and billing. The individual must possess strong technical skills to effectively navigate the DAS database extract data and generate reports for presentations. Additional duties include supervising and training student employees managing their timesheets and providing administrative support such as scheduling meetings and appointments for department leadership. The role also involves facilitating the accommodation application process guiding students through AIM system usage and assisting faculty with online exam processes and AIM-related inquiries.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
Associates Degree 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree.

Equivalent Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Psychology Counseling Education Social Work Higher Education Special Education or a related field

If the candidate is an ASL interpreter they must be certified and licensed by the Signed Language Interpreting Practice Board (SLIPB) under the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department (RLD). At the time of hire they must:

Be licensed at the Community level or
Possess a Provisional License issued by SLIPB

Experience taking a culturally responsive and inclusive approach to accommodation review and development with students

Experience working with and supporting students with mental health diagnoses and impairments

Experience reviewing and evaluating documentation to determine appropriate accommodations in a higher education or employment setting

One (1) year of professional experience in higher education with experience in student affairs and/or student development
