Farmington School DistrictPosition: Accelerated Learning/Gifted and Talented CoordinatorReports To: Director of Curriculum and InstructionLength of Contract: 190 daysDuties include coordinating instruction for children in the Accelerated Learning Program/Gifted and Talented Program assisting teachers with enrichment strategies and activities and assisting with assessments and other duties as assigned. This program requires staff to assist with many after-school and weekend activities allowing children to participate in both regional and statewide PURPOSE:Provide leadership coordination and instructional support for the districts Accelerated Learning/Gifted and Talented (GT) Program. The Coordinator ensures compliance with Arkansas GT Program Approval Standards while supporting advanced learners through a flexible service model that includes STEAM EAST cluster grouping consultant teacher and advanced learning :Education/Certification:Bachelors degree from an accredited universityValid Arkansas teaching license with Gifted & Talented (K12)Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of gifted education and differentiated instructionUnderstanding of curriculum development and instructional strategiesStrong organizational communication and collaboration skillsExperience:Arkansas license required GT license preferred/or willingness to obtain. At least 3 years of certified teaching experience is Superintendent may approve alternatives to the above RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Program Coordination and CompliancePlan develop and implement the district Accelerated Learning (GT) programEnsure compliance with Arkansas GT requirements including 150 minutes/week of services for identified students in grades 3-6Maintain all required documentation reports and recordsConduct program evaluation and recommend improvementsIdentification and AssessmentCoordinate GT screening referral and placement processesEnsure use of multiple criteria for identificationServe on or facilitate the district identification committeeMaintain accurate student records and communicate placement decisionsInstructional Support and Service DeliverySupport delivery of Accelerated Learning/GT services through:Provide direct instruction to identified GT students as assignedWhole-group STEAM enrichment opportunities (K2)Cluster grouping differentiated instruction and consultant teacher support integrated with STEAM and EAST opportunities (Grade 3)EAST integration project-based learning enrichment opportunities and direct services (Grades 46)Advanced coursework and accelerated learning pathways (Grades 78)Serve as a consultant to teachers by:developing and providing enrichment and extension resourcesmodeling instructional strategiessupporting differentiation in the classroomCollaboration and Professional DevelopmentWork collaboratively with principals teachers and district leadershipProvide professional development related to gifted learners and instructional strategiesSupport teachers in implementing differentiation and documenting servicesCollaborate with secondary counselors and administrators to support student access to accelerated coursework and advanced learning Support and CommunicationMonitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parentsSupport student participation in enrichment opportunities competitions and advanced learning experiencesMaintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and program opportunitiesAdditional DutiesParticipate in faculty meetings committees and district initiativesAssist with after-school or extended learning opportunities as neededPerform other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and InstructionSUPERVISORY DUTIESSupervise students and program activities as assignedWorking ConditionsMental Demands:Maintain emotional control under stressWork collaboratively across multiple campusesPhysical Demands:Frequent standing walking bending and lifting instructional materialsUpdated:
