Academic Assistant II - Writing Reading Speech

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide academic assistance to students in the Writing Reading Speech Assistance Area of the College of DuPage. Academic Assistant II will offer presentations in classrooms or online.

  • Provide writing reading and public speaking assistance to students in all academic disciplines taught at the College of DuPage in-person and online.
  • Provide in-class and online orientations on WRSA services.
  • Conduct and/or create workshops on various writing reading and speech topics to be presented in classrooms or through webinars.
  • Consult and serve as a resource to other academic assistants and peer academic assistants.
  • Develop and/or participate in training on WRSA related topics.
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills.
  • Qualifications:

    Education

    • Bachelors degree in a related discipline required.

    Experience

    • Experience teaching or providing academic assistance required.
    • Experience presenting in groups required.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including proficiency in spoken English required.

        Working Conditions:

      • Fifteen (15) to twenty-five (25) hours per week during academic terms only (approximately 40 weeks per year). Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
      • Up-to-date skills in relevant technologies.
      • This position is subject to a background check and education verification at the expense of the College.
