Academic Assistant I - WRSC
The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide academic assistance to students in the Writing Reading Speech Assistance Area of the College of DuPage. Offer orientations in classroom or online.

  • Provide writing reading and public speaking assistance to students in all academic disciplines taught at the College of DuPage in person or online.
  • Provide in-class orientations on WRSA services.
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills.
  • Serve as a resource to peer academic assistants and other academic assistants.
  • Develop and participate in training on related topics. Develop and compile resource materials.
  • Qualifications:

    Education

    • Associates degree required including English 1102 and Speech 1100 with a grade of B or higher and a GPA of 3.3.

    Experience

    • Experience teaching or providing academic assistance in a related discipline preferred.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including proficiency in spoken English required.


      Working Conditions:

    • Fifteen (15) to twenty (20) hours per week during academic terms only (approximately 40 weeks per year). Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
    • Up-to-date skills in relevant technologies.
    • This position is subject to a background check and education verification at the expense of the College.
